This web site is the complete guide for building a home based business from scratch, using dropshipping and dropshippers.

Introduction

In the winter months of 2005, I attended a two and a half day Internet seminar, which boasted some 8 to 9 guru’s, all of which were well into the millionaire status. If I could summarise the whole event into one short sentence it was – keep it simple and do what you love!

Coming away from that event however, I was so chock full of information, that keeping it simple seemed impossible. It was very hard to break down everything we were shown but after months and months of continuously applying, reading and doing, I can remember more and more the simple lessons we were taught. Not only that, but it doesn’t matter where you live, you can make a business on the Internet.

The three steps in the Internet business world are –

· Find a product or service
· Drive traffic to a web site
· Convert traffic to sales

Now lets take the first step and break that down. Finding a product or service does not have to be as hard some people might think, but it’s important to remember that if you have a personal interest in a product or service you are trying to promote, you are going to have far more success.

Having an interest in a product or service will give you far more patience and stamina, especially when the chips are down, than with something you don’t. Building any business, whether it’s a bricks and mortar business or an internet one, will have it’s ups and downs, and you are far more likely to throw in the towel if your promoting something you don’t really care about or believe in.

So getting back to the first step in finding a product or service, there are three major ways to do this. You can find a supplier of products you’d like to sell, and buy wholesale and sell retail. You can send people to someone who already sells products or services and get paid for that, or you can sell information or a service yourself.

Buying wholesale and selling retail can be done in numerous ways. One is to do it the traditional way, where you have a place to store the goods like a warehouse or your garage, and then ship them off as they are sold on your web site.

The next is to use a drop shipper, who will sell to you wholesale, but instead of you having to take stock of anything, they will actually send the product to your customer on your behalf. This will be the main basis for this book, however for the most part, everything in this book can be used for any method of selling, whether it’s a physical product or not.

Another way is to use Ebay, or a similar auction site, and sell products by auctioning them off. With this method, you can choose to stock the products yourself, or use a drop shipper. All of these methods will be discussed in varying detail later.

Once you’ve found a method you want to use you now have to take care of step two, which is to drive traffic to a web site. If you are selling a product, service or information yourself, then usually the web site will be yours (unless you are auctioning products through Ebay of course!). If you’re promoting someone else’s products then you need to drive traffic to their site. The methods of doing this vary, but it’s all about marketing and getting noticed, and it’s very important. This will be covered in more detail later.

The third step is converting traffic to sales, which can be quite a task, and we’ll be covering this in detail later, but there needs to be a conversion rate that you’ll be happy with, because there could be nothing worse than having lots of traffic coming to your site but not having them convert to sales. This also goes for promoting other’s products. If you spend $100 getting ‘x’ amount of traffic to someone else’s site, but all you make is $80, then it could be that their web site has a poor conversion rate.

So in a nutshell, an Internet business should be tackled with these three factors in mind, and when things aren’t going to well and business is slow, have a look at which of those three factors you need to improve on.
