Blogs and Syndication
Blogs are a great way to market your web site. Blog comes from the term “web log”, and are used like online diaries, news feeds, opinion columns and so on. Because blogs have an archive tool, all content you add to the blog will be placed up the top and older content then becomes archived.
The benefit of this is you are able to add fresh content without having to physically remove the older content. Search engines love fresh content.
Syndication is a method where by you are able to feed your content from your blog to other sites, so as soon as you write some fresh news or information, all the sites that have set up a syndicated feed to your blog, will automatically be updated with your fresh news.
That is a great way to market your site! You are able to add pictures, links to other pages on your site, and so much more with blogs.
To get started blogging and syndicating, you can visit www.blogger.com and set up your own blog for free. You will need to read the help and support from http://help.blogger.com to understand more on how blogging works.
Some will be able to upload the relevant code from Blogger and actually get the blog address in your domain name, where as some will just have to set up a link on their site to their blog page.
Either way, get a blog set up and add content to it on a regular basis, such as your articles, press releases, news, specials and so on and then submit your blog to blog directories.
There are too many to list here so do a search for blog directories and you should have no problem finding a whole bunch.
As you will find out when you read the help section, you will be able to set up a feed from your blog using www.feedburner.com. Some directories will require a feed rather than a Blog address.
Of course you do not have to use Blogger at all for your blogging, so do look around for other ways, but if you’re unfamiliar with blogging, then Blogger is the best way to get started.
Tasks:
1. Read the help section at Blogger. 2. Set up your own Blog 3. Set up a Feed 4. Submit your Blog and/or Feed to directories.
